Lessons, Electives & Ensembles
Our Lessons
Our jump-start lessons are taught by our highly qualified instrumental specialists who play the instruments they teach. Each small, self contained, non mixing, outdoor, group cohort will follow a fifteen day format. Each day builds on the concepts and materials from the previous lessons using 21st-Century learning techniques as well as tried and true methods of learning.
Introduction To Woodwind & Percussion 1
This is a beginner group lesson for all first year flute, oboe, clarinet, percussion and saxophone players.
Introduction To Brass & Piano 1
This is a beginner group lesson for all first year trumpet, baritone, piano, trombone, tuba and French horn players.
Intermediate Wind, Piano & Percussion 2
This intermediate group lesson is for all flute, oboe, percussion, trumpet, piano, baritone, trombone, tuba, clarinet and saxophone players who have had at least 1-2 years of private or in-school band lessons.
Introduction To Guitar & Ukulele 1
This is a beginner group lesson for all beginning guitar or ukulele players. This class accepts both electric & acoustic instruments.
Advanced Jazz/Rock Band 3
This is an advanced group lesson for all woodwind players who have had over 2 years of private or in-school band lessons.
Our Ensembles
Ensemble playing is a team sport! Gaining experience rehearsing, perfecting and performing with other musicians is one of our most important goals at the Super Summer Music Camp. During our final day at camp, all students will be performing in the Super Summer Music Festival 2024 with their ensemble. Placement in an ensemble will be based on your child's lesson group.
Ukulele Band
(entering 4th-12th grade in the Fall of 2024)
One of our most popular offerings is the Uke Band! A fantastic way to bring your music anywhere you go. This specialty ensemble teaches campers of all abilities the opportunity to read music, play chords and perform modern pop songs on the Ukulele. (All participants must provide their own ukulele for this ensemble).
Beginning Symphonic Band 1
(entering 4th-5th grade in the Fall of 2024)
Just the right amount of push and praise introduces these youngsters to the joys of playing music with others. Young instrumentalists need to develop good playing habits by focusing on proper technique and ensemble skills. This is the perfect head start for these young instrumentalists to lay the ground-work for band class in the fall and a lifetime of music in their lives.
Intermediate Wind, Piano & Percussion Ensemble 2
(entering 6th-7th grade in the Fall of 2024)
This intermediate ensemble is for those who have participated in their school band program and already read music on their instrument. This ensemble will challenge students in sight reading, technique, and musicianship. Students will have a great opportunity to learn new band repertoire and raise their performance artistry.
Advanced Jazz Rock Band 3
(entering 7th-11th grade in the Fall of 2024)
This advanced ensemble is open to all instruments including percussionists and guitar players! The groups' will focus will the performance of modern and pop repertoire as well as traditional standards and riffs. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who may have their eyes on joining their school jazz program of just want to spend their summer playing different styles of music.
Guitar Group
(entering 4th-11th grade in the Fall of 2024)
If you've always dreamed of playing the guitar this is for you. This ensemble uses a mix of acoustic and electric guitars and is a perfect opportunity to join others in learning basic chord progressions and melodies in various styles of music. (All campers taking guitar lessons will be placed in this ensemble unless they choose the Ukulele band).
Our Electives
Our fun and cutting edge electives provide an enrichment opportunity for trying out new things. These unique and interactive classes are sure to expose new talents and stretch imaginations. All campers will choose
one elective for each week of camp they are attending.
Jersey Rocks
New Jersey has produced some of the most well-known artists and bands in the the history of music. Learn about the the trailblazers from Frank Sinatra to the Lumineers. Go behind the scenes in this up-close look at the special and unique nature of the NJ music scene.
Sing It!
Get ready to sing it! Students will participate and perform in a modern a cappella "Glee" type ensemble. In this class you will learn about singing and movement as well as many other important skills to help make the most out of your singing talent!
Trash Band
This unique and inventive group uses automotive parts, handmade percussion and original instruments. Your camper will be amazed by the music they will be creating on not so traditional instruments fashioned from materials like tire rims, hoses, tin cans, boxes, buckets, plastic containers and trash cans.
Producers Studio
Welcome to the inner workings of song production and beat construction. Learn to use samples and loops to create your own music tracks. Using the same techniques that professionals employ, students will become familiar with terms such as sampling, mixing, pan, mute, solo, sequence, loops, tracks, lead lines & export. Students will be able to create as well as produce their own songs. Students who register for this class must provide their own headphones/ear buds and Apple device i.e, MacBooks, iPhone or iPad and have Garage Band installed on their device.
Fun & Games
Get introduced to the games you've always wanted to learn and some you've never heard of. Test your skills against new opponents everyday learning and playing unique card games, board games and a variety of others.
Real Four Square
Welcome to the competitive world of fast paced four square. This is not the four square you remember playing at school. We follow and play by real tournament rules making everyone a real competitor. Even if you’re not a sports person, you are going to totally love this fast paced and energetic elective.
