FAQ's

FAQ's

  • Who can join us at the Super Summer Music Camp?
Any student who is entering grades 4th—11th grade in the Fall of the 2023 school year.
  • Do I need to Attend all three weeks?
Not at all.  We understand that kids are very busy during the summer. Campers are however encouraged to attend the entire three week duration of the program as each day builds on the previous days learning.

  • What Are Your Covid Safety Protocols?
We've been working with Covid and kids everyday for the entire school year and want you to know that your child’s safety is our number one goal.  We strictly adhere to all the NJ state Covid-19 guidelines and enforce an indoor mandatory mask policy, multiple hand sanitizing stations, and equipment sanitizing between learning stations.  Campers are not required to wear a mask when they are outdoors which is most of the day and it's good practice to have at least 2 cloth masks or a box of paper masks as campers will need to wash/replace them frequently.

  • What book do I need for my lessons?
Beginner Band Lessons:  Standard of Excellence, Bk 1
Intermediate Band Lessons:  Standard of Excellence, Bk 1
    Advanced Band Lessons:  Teacher supplied
Beginner Guitar: Alfred's Basic Guitar Method, Bk 1, Third Edition
    Ukulele Band:  Teacher supplied

  • Can I play two instruments at camp?
We encourage students to try new things and take lessons on a new instrument.   We call this a second instrument.  For example, if you would like to try guitar lessons (second instrument) during camp but play trombone (primary instrument) in your school band, you can request to play your primary instrument in ensembles/electives and still take lessons on a new second instrument.
  • How do I get an instrument?
All campers must supply their own instruments. For new instruments, we recommend Music & Arts.  A borrowed/pre-owned instrument is great, just make sure it is in good working order. If you need assistance purchasing one online, just send Mr. Jacobsen a link(s) to what you are thinking about buying.  Please be aware of deals that are too good to be true when it comes to renting/buying.  Most of those instruments play out of tune, break frequently and are difficult to repair.
  • Where can I rent an instrument?
You can get an instrument anywhere you wish.
We recommend the following instrument provider:

Music & Arts
137 Interstate Shopping Center Ramsey, NJ 07446
Phone: 201-327-2853
or
Music & Arts
Paramus Towne Square
240 NJ-17, Paramus, NJ 07652
